Market forming outside the Moksh plaza

Site observation:

Problems identified on site :

1. Unallotted spaces for vendors

2. Facing storage issue

3. Seasonal Challenges and lack of infrastructure

Opportunities:

Vendors and hawkers are making use of existing infrastructure like railings and skywalk to display ,extending footpath level to organize there stuff.

Type identified on footpath:

Through the observation i started diagraming the way they display there things using some of the existing structure like railing and organizing there space under the skywalk.

Type of shops identified inside Moksh plaza

The shops that are inside the Moksh plaza have this standard dimensions of shops in which every wall is used as display things and also some shops have the extended space to display mannequin.

So , there is a clear difference between two displays , one is the direct relationship with buyer and the seller which is on footpath and in other type the buyer has to enter the space for buying which is in moksh plaza.

The common idea that i found intresting and used in both are the Surface which is formed to display thing, so i came up with the idea of Surface modulation.

Argumentative Question : Moksh Plaza hosts a vibrant market that has emerged along the roadside and footpaths due to high traffic, populated by hawkers selling clothes, accessories, shoes, and more. Ingeniously, they utilize boundaries like railings and commercial structures, even using trees as impromptu shelters. However, the existing mall stands in stark contrast, a closed-off structure that hampers city-market synergy.

How can the current mall be redesigned to encourage people from all backgrounds to interact freely, blur the lines between the road market and the mall's space, and create a unified environment that embodies the lively and inclusive essence of the roadside market – essentially forming a space that truly defines a "market"?

Speculation process model

Through the idea of surface modulation i started experimenting the idea of surfaces through models, How surface itself can form a space and create a affordance for vendors to organize there display.

Program diagram

To create a space, I established the grid form and started creating the space thinking through programs like central plaza, services, storage space and shops
